2 Ways To Clean Your Pipes

Posted on

If you think about your house like a huge body, your plumbing system is like its cardiovascular system. And just like the veins and arteries in your body, sometimes the pipes get a little constricted, especially when it comes to the drains. As you use the drains, they get all kinds of gunk in them. Some of that gunk sticks to the side. As more gunk goes down the drains, it attracts even more stuff, and the cycle continues, and it turns into a whole big mess. Constricted drains turn into ones that drain very slowly. If that is happening, you want to make sure that you can get them cleaned out as soon as possible. So, what can you do in order to get them clean?

Baking Soda and Vinegar

Many people swear by baking soda and vinegar as a miracle cure for just about any cleaning situation. The truth is, that it can really do a lot of things, which is why a lot of people use it. One of the things it can do is to help clean out your drains. You are going to need to have baking soda, vinegar, and hot water on hand. First, dump the baking soda down the drain. You might want to use a funnel for this because it will be easier to get the powder down the drain. Then you want to put in the vinegar. You should probably put the plug or a plate over the drain so that it will keep the bubbles and gas inside the pipes. After you let that sit, then you will want to pour the hot water down the drain.

Drain Cleaners

Another option is to go with some chemical drain cleaners. Some of them say that they will foam up in the pipes so that they will clear up all the stuff on the sides. The chemicals can be caustic, so if you are going to use them, make sure that you wear the proper protection for it. You don't want to risk getting hurt because some drain cleaner popped up on you as you were pouring it.

If nothing you try gets the drains back to work the way that they should be, then you are going to need to call in professional drain cleaning services. They can bring in all their cleaning tools and get rid of all the gunk in your pipes for you.
